Our old couch was $150 courtesy of Salvation Army over 6 years ago. Two broken springs, a saggy seat, and a rip in the arm later, it has seen better days.
We talked about getting new furniture for a long time. We just couldn't decide how much we wanted to spend. We could get cheap furniture that probably wouldn't last, or we could spend money that we're trying to save for a house on expensive furniture. We decided on the former for various reasons I won't get in to now.
After a trip to the furniture, we found something we liked. We didn't get it right away because we wan't to make sure we really liked it. Even though it was cheap for furniture, it was still a lot of money. A week later we went back to the store and couldn't find the set. The salesperson told us that it was just taken off the floor and put in the clearance room because it was being discontinued. But, if we wanted, we could buy the floor model for really cheap. We quickly checked it over for tears, and since we didn't find any, we bought it!
Here is a before picture of the living room:
And here is the new furniture!
You are not going to believe it, but we got all 4 pieces for a total of $750. So, even though it probably won't last forever, we are very happy.

that is a awesome deal, I love the red it brightens the room,.
Wow, that is gorgeous.
@opster25@momaroo - Yeah, we liked the red too!
@gwacemom@momaroo - Thanks!
Awesome deal indeed! I have some serious livingroom furniture envy goin' on, too. (I'd love some new stuff, but now is just not the time. So I'm sticking with my slip covers and may make a run to the only Wal-Mart I know to still have a fabric selection to recover the two chairs one day soon.)
@filtered_sunlight@momaroo - Well, if it makes you feel any better, we skipped on the end tables. So now we have nice couches with junky circa 1970 coffee tables and end tables. And we still have 2 chairs in that room that don't match so I may be running to Wal-Mart to get some slip covers too!
@christygraves - I replaced our tables last year. Craigslist specials...and I still need to find the time to sand and paint them to match the dining room table, but they're not completely awful and for under $50 for 4 tables, I can't complain!
